Amex Offer: $50 off $150 at Wine Access (can be used 3x) |
There's a new iteration of an excellent Amex Offer that's run before with Wine Access. This time it can be used 3x for $50 back on $150. Offer expires 2/19/2020.
A lot of the wine offers from Amex are for wine clubs, and they're usually not a good deal at all. But Wine Access is not a wine club. They have an assortment of outstanding wines with reasonable pricing, and since you can stack this offer with other angles it can lead to some seriously great deals.
1. Load the AmEx Offer to your card(s) online
I saw the offer on my Amex Personal Platinum cards, but it's probably available on other cards as well.
2. Create a Wine Access Account
Wine Access has a refer-a-friend whereby you get $50 off your first $150 order. Right now they're also running a 20% off storewide offer that seems to be overriding the $50 off $150, which is sub-optimal for orders around the $150 mark. But once you become a customer you can in turn refer friends for $50 per referral.
Here's my referral link to get started if you're new to Wine Access:
3. Go through a Shopping Portal
You can get additional cashback or points & miles for Wine Access orders. To find the best cashback rates use
Cashback Monitor.
Top Cashback is a reliable portal and they're currently offering 10% cashback at Wine Access. If you're not registered with Top Cashback yet here's
my refer-a-friend link.
4. Spend at least $150 to trigger the AmEx Offer and Free Shipping
The way AmEx Offers work you charge the required amount ($150 in this case) and if the offer has successfully been linked to your account prior to purchase you should receive an email from AmEx right away saying you triggered the offer. The $50 back is processed a few days later as a statement credit.
If you stack the $50 referral with $50 Amex offer that's $100 off $200, plus portal cashback. That's a very good deal on wines that aren't price inflated with free shipping.
What to Buy?
From there, the challenge becomes deciding which wine(s) to buy. Their selection is constantly changing but I like that they have a mix of big names, lesser known but well regarded selections, and affordable insider finds.
One that jumps out at me is this
2014 Rudius Cab. $90 Release Price for $69.99. You can "top off" orders to arrive on round numbers just over $150.
A personal favorite over many vintages here is
Coho Headwaters, a proprietary Napa blend. At $40 it's a great value.
Finally, since I love California Pinot Noir so much, is
Rhys Alesia Pinot Noir.
If you fall just short of $150 or $200 total, they have an option to "top off" your order with more affordable bottles.
Put it all together and I think it's a very nice deal, probably on part with the rotating deals wine .com has been running the past few years. Like this
$50 off $200 deal they're running that can also be stacked with an Amex Offer.
